About Me

What follows is likely to be one of the most awkward obligatory introduction posts in history. I promise you, it will get better from here!

Hey y’all! I’m MandaKaye and this here is my blog where I am hoping to share my opinions, reviews, and thoughts on video games both newer and older. This is also going to be a space where I hope to share some of my experiences as a gamer as well.

I am 26 years old and currently am about one year away from completing my undergrad degree in English Literature. I had been hoping to pursue a double concentration with Creative Writing, however, due to timing and course availability, I am only going to officially have a degree in Literature despite having completed all of my official Creative Writing courses. Those crazy electives just throw everything off!

I’ve been interested in games since I was fairly young and mainly played on the computer or on my GameBoy. I did lose interest in games for awhile starting in my early teens. This was primarily due to cultural and societal expectations of what girls should be doing and the games I wanted to play certainly didn’t fit into that. I also wasn’t surrounded by many people who did game. In my early 20’s, I did finally start to pursue my interest in gaming with what little free time I did have. In 2018, I was in a car accident that actually led to me having hip surgery in 2019 and it was during that time that I really fell hard into games as an escape.

In the two years since, I have expanded the games I play and come to realize just how broad the gaming community is. I’ve certainly been able to connect with one of my cousins far more over games. I’ve also become almost dependent on the gaming community as a source of connection and entertainment. We might all be playing alone, but we’re together in that solitude, so are we truly alone?

Some of my initial posts will be based off of larger or newer games, but I am planning to get more screen time in with indie games and smaller games in general. My hope is to post one to two times per week, especially as I get used to blogging and creating meaningful content. I do primarily play games on the Nintendo Switch, however I did recently (as in like three weeks ago) get a gaming computer so I will be playing games available for Windows through Steam or the EpicGames store.

Also, while I do have a Twitch account, I do not stream currently. I do hope to stream in the future, but need to get a lot of technological details figured out first. If y’all have any suggestions for games you want to see or questions, feel free to leave a comment!
